Geoff Wileman is a carpenter in Northampton with many years of experience working on both large construction projects and smaller residential carpentry work.

I am a carpenter based in Northamptonshire and have spent my working life in the building and carpentry trade.
I first trained in a cabinet-making workshop after leaving school, where I learned the traditional skills involved in making and fitting bespoke furniture. After that I moved into general carpentry work and eventually began working for myself in my mid-twenties.
Over the years I gained experience on a wide range of projects including house building, property conversions and large construction projects. I later worked in supervisory roles and eventually site management on a number of well known projects in London, including work at the Globe Theatre, the London School of Economics and other high quality residential and commercial refurbishments.
While those projects gave me a huge amount of experience, what I have always enjoyed most is the craft of carpentry itself and working directly with people on projects that improve their homes.
For the last ten years I have been based back in Northamptonshire working mainly with homeowners who want to improve, modernise or make better use of the space in their properties.
Much of my work begins with a conversation about what someone would like to achieve in their home. Sometimes customers have a very clear idea of what they want, and sometimes they just know that a space is not working as well as it could. Drawing on many years of experience I help talk through the options and find practical solutions that will work well in the space available.
Typical projects include fitted wardrobes, bespoke cupboards, shelving, under-stairs storage, internal doors, staircase improvements and kitchen updates. Many homes have awkward spaces or unused areas that can be transformed into useful storage with the right carpentry work.
Because I carry out the work myself, customers deal directly with me from the first conversation through to the completion of the project. My aim is always to make the process straightforward and to ensure the finished result is something that works well for the home and looks right in the space.
Every project is important to the homeowner, and I always try to make sure customers feel comfortable throughout the process and are happy with the finished result.
Today most of my work comes from homeowners across Northampton and the surrounding areas of Northamptonshire who are looking for a reliable carpenter to help with improvements inside their homes.
Whether it is installing new doors, building fitted storage, updating staircases or creating bespoke units, I enjoy helping people turn ideas into practical solutions that improve their living space.
